I spend about 800bucks and more on a tube of lipstick and it is quite challenging to
find the perfect shade.I recently found a way to make my own lipstick which costed me
nearly nothing compared to the amount of money i spend on branded products almost
every month!!
Besides, This recipe is safe and takes around just 10 mins for preparation.
Yes Ladies, you heard it right !!
STUFF YOU WILL NEED :
1\2 a Crayon : did you know the main staple of your drawing classes in school can make
you a dope tube of lipstick too?
I have used camel non-toxic crayons which are easily available in general or
stationary stores across India.
I bought these crayons because it gave me a variety of shades to choose from.
you can use any crayons available but make sure they are NON-TOXIC.
make sure they are NON-TOXIC |
rs 40 for 24 sticks of crayons |
1\2 tablespoon Olive Oil : I have used figaro refined olive oil for this recipe. Olive oil is found
in almost all kitchens.
If you dont have a bottle at home then purchase it from a nearby mall
or general store. I found this tiny 100ml bottle in my kitchen (Rs 115/-)
**Alright, You've got a variety of choices here, instead of Olive oil you can
use castor oil or jojoba oil..they all work the same.
1\2 a teaspoon of Coconut Oil : i have used coconut cooking oil that i luckily found in my
kitchen.
You can use any type of coconut oil that is easily available to you.
Adding coconut oil will give your lipstick texture.
**You can replace coconut oil with shea butter or cocoa butter for similar results.
Food Essence (optional) : If you want to get rid of the strong crayon smell..add a
drop of essence used in food. You should find it in your kitchen.
A Pan or any steel vessel used in your kitchen : I used a pan from my kitchen used
to boil milk.
A Small Tin Container : I took a pepsi can and cut it into half horizontally and used
the bottom half. You can do the same. I could not find the desired size of the tin container
in the market. You can also try using aluminium containers but i cant say if will work the
same way.
A Wooden Stick : I have used a spare wooden eye liner brush. I used the back of the brush to stir in
the hot mixture.
**Other great options are popsicle/icecream stick,wooden spoons,etc
or craft store or simply use your old lip balm, gel eyeliner containers or empty lipstick tube.
For one of my lipsticks i used the glove container that came with my mom's
LOreal hair color pack. :b
Rs 40 for a set of 3 staked containers |
I simple love these containers, the store had many other single, colourful containers
but i had to pick these!! They look so cute and that a glittery blue top!! *-*

Water And Normal or Electric Stove : I have used plain tap water and normal
gas stove used in my kitchen.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO :
- Place the pan on the stove and heat it on high flame till it starts boiling.
- Now turn the flame low.
- Keep the empty tin container in the pan ...let it float over the hot water.
- Take half a crayon color of your choice. I used a crayon stick that said
WHITE crayon + a quarter piece of DEEP RED for my pink minaj lipstick .
Girls you can experiment as much as you like with different crayon colors..
add black to darken it and add white to lighten the shade of the color. keep mixing
colors till it reaches your desired shade :)
- Peel off the crayon wrapper and drop it in the tin container.
- Add half teaspoon of olive oil in the tin container
- And also half a teaspoon of coconut oil
- Stir the 3 ingredients gently till the crayon stick melts. **use the wooden stick
making pink minaj lipstick here |
- Now pour the hot liquid into the empty makeup containers carefully without spilling.
- Keep it in the fridge to set for 5-10 mins
