Supporting the "Kishori" Programme :

Stayfree Women for Change initiative is supporting the Delhi Government "Kishori" Programme in its objective to inculcate better health and hygiene practices amongst adolescent school girls in Delhi Government and Government aided schools. "We decided to initiate this scheme after finding that a large number of girl students skip school because of monthly periods and inadequate knowledge of managing her menstruation and leading a normal life", an official of Directorate of Education, Govt. of New Delhi said.
The Delhi Government is giving each adolescent school girl from class 6 to class 12 in government and government aided schools, a pack of 10 sanitary napkins every month free of cost. These napkins are provided by Stayfree® at highly subsidized rates to the Delhi government. Stayfree® has also supported the training of about 750 Delhi Government school teachers who in turn will educate the adolescent girl students on good health and hygiene practices. Over 7,00,000 girls across 729 schools are expected to benefit from the programme.

Support the"Stree Shakti" Programme

In 2010, Delhi government invited Stayfree® to participate in their “Stree Shakti” programme which aims at changing the lives of girls and women from dispossessed communities in New Delhi National Capital Region.
Stree Shakti is a tripartite programme involving Government of Delhi, Johnson & Johnson Limited and NGOs from civil society. The partnering NGOs run community development centres in modest localities and work towards bringing about holistic change among girls and women. The NGOs educate women and girls about health in general with special emphasis on menstrual health and promoting the use of sanitary napkins for the upkeep of health.
